Deja Vu started in a Dubai apartment with a dozen bottles of oud oil and a flight to Houston. It still works the same way: composed there, worn here.
How we got here

2019
The first batch
Twelve oud oils, blended for family and friends in Dubai, never meant to be sold.
2021
Houston asks for more
Friends in Texas kept asking for refills. We started carrying bottles over in hand luggage.
2023
Deja Vu, formally
A small atelier in Dubai, a mailing address in Humble, and a name for the feeling of a scent that brings something back.

Dubai
Learned at home, not from a brief.
In the Gulf, oud is burned at home, worn to prayer, and gifted at weddings. The perfumers we work with learned it that way, not from a brief. Every Deja Vu fragrance is composed and filled in Dubai in small batches.
We buy oud oil by the tola, not the ton. Batches are numbered, and when one runs out it is gone until the next distillation.
